You Have Fear Because You Don't Understand...

Many people walked about the world living the way they should. They noticed new shiny objects to buy, but only did so when they could afford them. Most people didn’t run out and overpay for a house with money they didn’t have and agree to payments they couldn’t afford. In fact, maybe 80 percent did it right and 20 percent went crazy.

Now to be sure almost no reader of this blog worked on Wall Street and ripped off other workers on Wall Street buying and selling instruments with overinflated values. But there were people who did that. Bernie Madoff stole billions and lived like a King. Others ran scams of massive proportions, stealing so much they even gave away millions making themselves look like heroes to charities.

And because the average person didn’t know all this was going on right under their noses, the average person fears where we are going now that we realize there is no one in charge we can trust. Can you trust any Banker? Any government regulator to protect you? Any major CEO who fritters away millions on lavish parties, private jets and office renovations?

We have fear because we lost faith in the system. But wait…the system worked. The fakes were proved to be fakes, and the crooks to be crooks. We were too complacent and it took longer than it should have…but the failures have been exposed.

Have faith now, less fear…that if you keep living your life as you should, and you run your business as you should…eventually the world will turn rightside up again.

After we pay for our mistakes.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
