What do others pay for your success?
Who paid for your education? Where did you live during the struggling part of your life. Did you pay for that car you are driving? Where did the money come from that launched your venture?
These are easy to answer. But they don’t define the only price that others pay for your success. Others pay much more than you give them credit for.
For those of you with children, you know they pay a lot for your success. Ask a six year old what they want and it almost always is more time with you. When are you coming home? Why do you have to go away? You know this but have to suppress it from your brain if you want to get done what you have too.
What about your spouse or significant other? The time they lose with you is just the beginning. There is also the time with you that costs them too. They have to listen to your rants, your enthusiastic chatter, the whining and they also have to stand by when you brood through your silent period that at times smothers a room you inhabit.
How about the sacrifice you make for your success. Perhaps you cut your spending on yourself to put the money into your project or business. So do the others around you, for they don’t get to use the money you invest either. Didn’t you want that vacation spot you both had talked about last year…or is that gone for your cause…and they miss out as well.
Take this time to sit back a minute and see what others are paying for your success. And then take the next few minutes to find a way to thank them for their contribution.
