Wake Up, Get Dressed, Move On...

I will assume you have had enough with yesterday, enough of stories where people managing your money have been stealing you blind, and the gloom and doom of your life being over. Let’s start fresh.

Now that you got out of bed here is some of what you should do to move forward. For those who have retired, and those having a day off and those who are home because they lost their job…have a nice shower and get dressed for a great day. Sitting around the freezing cold house in a bathrobe won’t give you the energy to make anything happen.

If you went to work today and are sitting at your desk reading this with your fourth cup of coffee, or your third coca-cola then finish reading this blog and start cleaning up the clutter in front of you.

The point here is this…put your world into an order…one that will let you think clearly and invite the future into your life. If someone knocked on your door right now, or walked up to your desk would they see someone ready to do business. Would they feel inspired by the energy you are putting out and see a person moving forward or someone trapped in a rut?

Does your appearance say, “I am going North” or does it say, “I gave up.” Admit it…how you see others when you first approach them speaks volumes about what you can expect to get from them. If a possible new client called could you run out and meet them dressed as you are…or did you already assume nothing good would happen today?

Come on people…is your business dressed for success or does it say we are barely hanging on and it won’t be long before we are gone. No customers today? Paint the office. No appointments today? Are you making calls to correct that situation? Shake it off…put you best foot forward. There used to be a commercial that had the jingle… “Look Sharp, Feel Sharp, BE SHARP” and we should bring it back.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
