Truth...see the Truth!
Working with so many troubled companies over the years taught me a great deal about owners and the characteristics we as human beings use to cope with impending crisis. Warning signs are all around us about what will happen next…and we choose to ignore them and see lollipops and sugar candy in out future.
People ask me all the time what the secret to success is and there is no one word answer. Work, Luck, Persistence, and Preparation all come to mind but for my money TRUTH is the most “secret” of secrets to success. The ones who climb the mountain consistently see the truth of their situation and act accordingly. Why do people ignore the truth of their situation and continue working on a catastrophe as that keeps them from working on a situation that could become a winner?
When your retail store lacks customers and you put everything on sale to raise cash and suddenly you deplete your inventory at lower margins, and even losing margins, how do you think that will do anything but continue your spiral down the drain? If you are selling a service that pays you by the hour have you calculated how long it will take you…fully under contract…to get back to breaking even?
Look at the truth. Look at it. If you have cancer and ignore it does it heal itself? Some businesses die. In fact more than sixty percent die within five years, so everyone reading this in business has a greater chance of death than success. See the TRUTH please. And then do something about it. Because many cancer patients survive…and so do some businesses that may look like they are facing extinction. But it won’t happen unless you see the truth of your finances, your staff, your own efforts, and your customers…and only then can you choose what the treatment is for the cure. If they have to cut out body parts to keep people with cancer alive…they don’t hesitate because they face the truth of their circumstances. What’s the truth in your life…and are you ignoring it and dying needlessly or are you going to do something about it and give yourself a chance to live.
And the truth shall set you free.
