This Blog's For You

Recently I reported in a posting my plans for an upcoming syndicated radio spot to be played on hundreds of stations across the country. Well, the deal has now been struck and we should hit the airwaves on four different syndicated shows covering over 500 radio stations all over America.

In addition to the daily two minute “HERMANISM OF THE DAY” where I will recite one of the 77 axioms, and share a bit of thought provoking commentary, there will also be a live five minute interview done once a week to “flesh out” more about what my aims are with this marketing push. Since this will air five days a week it amounts to 3,000 “spots” weekly and will last for 13 weeks giving the campaign 39,000 total airings covering over 90% of the listening audience in America.

So, then why did I title this posting, This Blog’s For You? Because I want each of you to post the names of three blog sites you enjoy, or ones that have helped you or keep you pointed in the right direction. You see, the radio campaign is the result of connecting many dots together with a common thread of many resources all coming from the blogosphere community. And after I gather the favorites you have…with one line telling what the blog you read covers … I will post a “Best of Resources” guide with links so others may become aware of new ways to learn and grow.

The radio spots will be different every day, so I am now writing and recording about 80 spots in all.

As a new blogger of only a few months…there are not that many of you readers out there yet. But the response has been wonderful…and as I learn from you…I know I am pricking some of your brains out there. Now, to make this Blog even bigger, I shamelessly request that you email it to a few friends, and let me know your areas of interest for upcoming posts. My email data base now has over 5,000 entries. I will be announcing the new radio campaign thru a series of emails very soon. Putting links on my Blog for readers to come find your sites is offered to all. Speaking engagements for the University of Wisconsin, Salisbury State College, CCBC, and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference are all set for the coming six weeks. I am waiving any speaking fee for the next few months to stimulate more interest in my work…so, if you know of a group wanting a challenging presentation, hook me up.

Hi Herman,

First of all, thank you for taking time and effort to share your valuable experience in a concise, easy-to-understand way. I am impressed by the return I get from reading your weekly post for a few minutes. That’s why I ordered your book a week ago (it’s shipping so I can’t comment yet).

So, three of my favourite bloggers:

1. Jeff Matthews
2. Seth Godin
3. Rajesh Setty

By reading these blogs, I want to deepen my understanding of business principles. I’m especially interested in evaluation of whether to enter a market or not (and which market to enter). I am also interested in discovering how to execute better.

I’m not very interested in complex concepts that cannot be explained in more than a few sentences.

Hope this helps you, keep up the good work!

I like your observations about the riding the ups and downs of business.

Regarding sources of business ideas, I look at www.greenbusiness.net and sometimes enjoy snippets in Harvard Business Online weekly emails.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
