Thanks Omaha
Over the last twelve months I have done about 115 live interviews on various radio stations throughout the country. Yesterday it was a twenty minute appearance on the Scott Voorhees talk show at KFAB-AM in Omaha, Nebraska. Apparently Scott’s audience is a cross section of everything happening in America today.
There was lively talk from Scott about people wanting their “stuff” and therefore didn’t necessarily want to hear someone telling them to get rid of debt by cutting up credit cards and staying home from the movies. Of course, Scott knew something of my position and when I gave a brief overview of why people need to become responsible for their lousy spending habits he spoke for those he has in his listening audience who would resist the truly common sense action I was stating. And then several callers chimed in while we were live on the air.
You can listen to the interview at www.KFAB.com/pages/voorhees.html and click on the “Vintage Voorhees” link near the top left section of the page. For those who won’t click over let me tell you that both young and old callers said debt had either crippled them or was a problem and although my message seems like common sense, it seems to actually be sense that isn’t very common. Maybe it’s like the whole drunk driving issue in America. Many people still drink and drive because they can’t see themselves as being drunk drivers. Americans love spending and they don’t realize they have a problem until a debt crisis hits. And just like drunk drivers who get caught more than once…many spenders blow through warning signs of busting credit limits, getting new cards and jacking them up to the limit as well.
The debt and money spending issue is swallowing up people’s lives, making them depressed, hurting families, and has become the number one cause of divorce. Why won’t people address this issue until it all but destroys them? Because from birth to now we have raised Generation Debt…everyone feels entitled to having everything right now with no waiting or hardship to obtain our stuff. Isn’t it our God-given right to this stuff? There are a million messages out there now urging people not to drink and drive. But many people had to die before this cause found a voice.
This blog will continue the message I have believed for years…that at some point…and now the reality is setting in…Americans will have to pay for their stuff…with just the money they have or earn…and that will mean they can’t both pay for the old stuff and still buy new stuff. Capitalism at work. The way it is supposed to. You can have all the stuff you want…after you have the money to pay for it and not before you have the money to pay for it.
There was a huge response to my radio interview yesterday, the largest amount of hits this website has ever had in one day. That means we rang the bell loudly, and I really appreciate the response. Read the posted comment under yesterday’s blog and you will see one example of what many people said.
If you know of any group who needs a guest speaker, please throw my name in the ring…for certain situations I may waive my fee to help expose the message of my books. Share this blog with others who may benefit from the Hermanism philosophy.
