Save America...Start a Company...

Seventy-two percent of new jobs created in America are from small businesses. The burden of the future rests on your back. The big boys take the Limos and Private Jets while the small business owners’ pays the freight. I once heard a business buyer ask how much the sales were and when I asked why he didn’t want to know what the profits were he replied… “You can grab more money out of a large sales volume than a small one.”

If you are holding back from trying a new thing or following your passion as your job hangs by a thread, shame on you…you are what is holding back the recovery. I am not joking here. The big boys should all flush down the drain…they deserve to lose what they have. They made bad investments, failed to disclose the truth about their companies, hated regulators and then begged for a bailout.

Bail out yourself.

One of my clients made over one hundred thousand dollars in 2008. In fact, they made two hundred thousand dollars. I showed them that since their tax bracket was more than forty percent, every dollar used to expand was being subsidized forty percent by the government because they could write off the cost of expansion and avoid paying taxes on that portion expensed.

If you do own your small business and can’t survive call your competitor and stop your losses. Merge, sell or lease them your company, your customer base, or your inventory before it is taken away from you. Pay down whatever debt you can and start feeding your family by taking a job…possibly with that competitor.

If small business is the answer for America then think about this: real estate is still falling and you can’t trust the stock market…why not let people know you want to help fund a small business as a silent partner and help save America.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
