Protecting their Greed...

While the men who are running Wall Street are getting crushed…because they forgot that one day the money they were stealing would run out…we will all suffer. And for about six months now I have worried about the suffering being a prolonged event. I am changing my mind.

For awhile people have known we were going down the road to ruin. You can’t let people keep spending more than they make, and you can’t expect letting people in the candy store not to run wild with unlimited credit. And let me make a very sexist statement here…it has been greedy, selfish, unscrupulous MEN sucking value out of over-priced stocks, houses, and putting the country in this position. Yes I want to emphasize it has been men screwing this up and getting most of the honey out of the pot before reality set in.

When you watch CNBC to hopefully gather some information about where we are financially and what we are doing to move out of the mess…you see shows where men have built mansions beyond belief, bought boats they don’t use for millions, have temperature controlled garages to house 70 or so collectible cars. You also see shows about men buying sex for thousands of dollars a night to satisfy another selfish need. And you see shows about men in government busting their ass to befriend the money-bags and do whatever it takes to help them…so there will be continued endless donations to political campaigns. Save ourselves is apparently the “model” being used to fix the problem; actually “fixing” the problem isn’t even on anyone’s radar screen.

Bailing out bad loans doesn’t mean closing them out and taking your loss. It means stealing money from future years and giving it to the men running banks now. It saves them and that is apparently all that matters. Pension funds have been decimated…has anyone said let’s bail out all those stock portfolios that people needed to retire on…hell no…let them work five more years or so…because no one at the top can give up private planes to fly with the animals who use commercial airlines.

My worry about the long suffering has changed to shorter range suffering. Because the people in charge…those greedy, selfish men…are screaming so bad about cutting back on caviar and having to live with last years’ Bentley…that the greedy, selfish men in government are going to steal from our future to end their pain now.

I didn’t say I liked the plan being instituted, but it will shorten the length of pain we might suffer now…it might be kind of like fixing our broken leg with wire and sticks so we can walk a little bit now…but our leg won’t heal long term so we will never be able to run like we used to.

Maybe we need to put more women in charge. They don’t seem to be as greedy to me.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
