Predicting your 2008 Future
By the time you finish this posting you will be able to predict your future in 2008. So…pay attention.
It doesn’t matter what you are doing now. And, to a certain extent it doesn’t matter what you did in all of 2007 or before that. Whatever you want for 2008 is waiting for you if you just do the following three things.
First, make a realistic goal…not an impossible one. Instead of saying you want to be rich, simply say you want to be richer than you are now…and on your way to being rich is OK. Now that goal has to be substantive. It has to be something that requires you to act. It has to be something that your abilities can achieve, even if that means within your abilities you know when to recruit the help of others. So…write down a realistic goal for yourself. I’ll play with you. Mine is to achieve an income of fifty thousand dollars from my writing and speaking this year.
Second…gather information you need to put your plan into motion. What tools do you need to accomplish the goal? What are the parameters and how much money will it cost to achieve that goal, within the confines of your abilities. If I make no paid speeches I will need 10,000 books sold to net fifty thousand dollars. Every paid speech means less book sales are needed. I have decided to make speeches during the next six months wherever I can for free…to hopefully create more interest in my books. And in the long run make me an even greater amount of money from both book sales and speeches. I am forgoing income for a hopefully greater return. But I still plan to sell at least ten thousand books.
And finally, third and most importantly, start a short term plan that heads you down the road you want to travel. Take some action today, and tomorrow and the next day to move the ball down the field and towards the goal line you have set. I plan on writing at least five blog postings a week. I just sent out over 100 cards asking other bloggers to post my book cover on their website…in exchange for free books. I make calls and send out emails everyday to radio show producers offering to appear live for interviews and sending out books so that radio hosts will give me free air time and spread the gospel of “Hermanisms” to their audience. In 2007 I did about 100 radio shows…this year I am going for 150 interviews! That means staying steady on the calls, emails and perhaps an ad in BEST GUEST GUIDE which goes to all radio show producers looking for guests to interview. I am also working with a media sales rep who swears he will have a sponsor to keep airing my two minute DAILY HERMANISM on radio shows across the country. Whatever it takes.
If I do what I set out to do, I can now predict my 2008. Fifty thousand dollars will be coming in…at least that much…if I just follow my simple one-two-three plan. If you want to predict your 2008 future why don’t you do the same three steps. Put your comments here, or email me privately and let’s all check back in a few months to see where we are. I challenge you to do it…c’mon……I did.
What is your realistic goal? What are the tools you need to accomplish it? And what are the steps you are going to do everyday to make it happen?
