How to rebuild America...
This posting will start a series of how to rebuild the economy in America. Those who read my work know I am blunt and straightforward, so if you want puff go read the drivel in the more traditional places.
Corporate America hijacked the economy and got away with it. The Government not only helped them do it…they are still beholding to the Fortune 500 by passing laws that benefit the companies over the needs of the workers…and the rest of the taxpayers are paying for it. Manufacturing took off for overseas years ago and decades ago the big American oil companies got in bed with the Middle East and now the wealth of our nation has been transferred to that part of the world and the “tail” is now wagging the “dog.”
If you haven’t followed that last paragraph, re-read it please. In essence American’s lost their jobs when manufacturing went overseas, other large corporations (banks) then increased our purchasing power with credit replacing wages and house prices went up and people bought boats and cars as if they were giveaways. The large oil companies jumped into the mix as we drove gas guzzlers hither and yon. The government jacked up our taxes along the way, City, State and Federal. The bubble burst on credit, there is no job to fall back on, your house is worth less than you thought it was, and the lies on Wall Street were as bad as the Enron lies…but none of those people will go to jail…instead they go to Vail.
OK. We just completed step one in the Herman Recovery Plan for America. Borrowing from all the programs that help millions recover from all sorts of problems we have now stepped up to the plate and 1) Admitted we have a crisis. Yahoo, we have faced our nightmare and admit it has us in a stranglehold! Let’s go to step two.
2) You are responsible for your own recovery.
In essence we are all responsible for our own recovery, but if you follow the plan and your neighbor follows the plan and so on and so on, then in effect we will have a “daisy chain” of people doing what is necessary and therefore we will pull the whole damn country out of this mess.
When accepting that we are in step two, we must “cut loose the past” and leave our associations with the big government and the big corporations behind us. Hell, they left us halfway up the mountain to paradise and they took off ahead on their own, hand-in-hand. Let’s call them the Un-united States of the World. They want Global business and Global workers and Global customers, so we give them the world and we will stay here in the United States of America and rebuild. Our choice is to do that or keep tumbling down the hill into the valley far below. Why give up the gains we made in the last half of the last century because our corporate and government leaders grabbed the Global Gold and abandoned us?
Think of this like the early seventies when all white people fled the cities and left behind only the poor and blacks who were stuck with a crumbling infrastructure and no economic base to work with. Some entrepreneurs took the opportunity to rebuild those inner cities and many people got rich, staying home and making hay! And we need the zest of our spirit as if we just won World War II, or Lindbergh just landed in Paris, or more recently, remember how you felt as an American just after 9/11.
It’s going to take work, and there is a way back up. Fortunately, most Americans have never suffered loss like we have now before on such a personal level. Most people feel “frozen” with fear. Well, there are people like me, entrepreneurs who are used to set-backs and even a few defeats. And we can show you the way back.
That’s enough for today…email ten friends this posting and tell them to follow along for the next week or so and they will find an answer to our current situation. After all, I don’t just bitch about problems…I try to find ways to solve them.
