Do You Believe In You?

When all is said and done what you do depends on what YOU do. It is surprising to me how many people refuse to see that simple truth. Somehow a large number of people think life is what happens to them instead of life is what you make happen.

Don’t dismiss this posting without giving this some thought.

What are you doing to make tomorrow go the way you want it. Are you reading enough to learn more about how to achieve your goals? Do you spend enough time every day planning the next moves to keep climbing the ladder?

If you need a break to feel better give yourself a small vacation from the real world. I zoned out Saturday after a week that didn’t always go as planned. When my wife left for her shop on Saturday I told her I was having a do-nothing day. And then I hit the barn where for five hours I watched a movie, several episodes of Monk, and ate some of my favorite crab soup without caring about a thing. When my little vacation was over my wife came home. And, off to the movies we went to see “Appaloosa”, a movie I recommend.

By Sunday morning I returned to earth. Back to where the work of becoming a successful speaker had to be resumed. Earth, where you will need to return to after your brief “vacation.”

Last week didn’t go all aces. So what. Not every week is going to be great. The truth made me think about a new strategy on one issue. And by believing in myself I think I came up with a new approach to move forward. Today I put that strategy into play.

While how successful I become relies on others to do what I need them to do…it starts with me believing in what I know I can do.

It takes more than just a positive attitude. And, more than just believing in yourself. Don’t forget to do the work part too!

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
