Concentrate on your "Little World"...
My wife is making me turn off MSNBC already and the stock market just opened four minutes ago. As fast as Mark Haines announced we were down just about one hundred points…within a minute the loss was two hundred points. Maggie shouted, “Turn that thing off…your eyes will pop out of your head and your blood pressure will sky-rocket.”
Her point is a good one. If I sit here for awhile and watch the big world go from “Free Fall” to “Slow Fall” it keeps me from being productive. The truth is my Little World is getting better. For two years I have been on my slow crawl to get the message out and become a speaker and actually create some cash flow from my efforts. Over the last seven days I have given four speeches in four different states and at least two more bookings have resulted from these talks.
Over the last month more than 3,000 copies of HERMANISMS have been distributed and today people from California, Missouri, Pennsylvania and even Austria are talking to me about new events. So…here is the new deal…rather than watch America crumble bit by bit with people in charge foolishly pouring money into companies that should simply close their doors…I am going to spend my time marketing, stuffing envelopes, finishing my Demo DVD, getting ready for an upcoming convention I will have a booth at, and in general build my Little World and duck when I have too when pieces of the Big World fall around me.
You should do that too.
I do not mean become an Ostrich and bury your head in the sands…I mean for now concentrate on what you can do to improve your Little World where you live. Paint a room this weekend, clean the trash out of your car…start reading a new book, get off your butt and go to the gym…give up one spending vice this week like coffee, gum or cigarettes or for me Cokes and put that few bucks in a piggy bank.
Spend time with a few friends…tomorrow at 1:00PM four of my Baseball Buddies will gather in my barn (the Draft Palace) and watch a movie together. There will be no charge to get in, and the popcorn will not cost seven dollars…the fireplace will add a nice touch to the ambiance…and the BS that follows watching the movie will make us laugh and feel better for knowing each other and hanging out like this every few weeks.
Work on your Little World…you were not elected President last week…and darn it neither was I. So, let’s concentrate on making our Little World better and if we all do that it will lead us to a better Big World.
