Changing your World

About two years ago the world started turning towards my becoming a writer. Each day I would bang away at the keyboard putting thoughts to paper with the notion that someday people would read my work and learn from it. It takes a lot of ego and self confidence to think you might actually have something to say that could help others. The seed of that part was planted in me years ago and that will be saved for other postings.

Now, as the words ran together chapters started forming. A book was taking form. But what if it was awful? As I read it I beamed with pride, for it was just as I had envisioned it in my head. So what, others didn’t always see things my way. So, I took the fledgling book to an expert, an English Department head who didn’t know me from Adam. I treasure her response as she reinforced my belief that the world could indeed gain knowledge from what I had put on paper. Thank you, Clarinda Harris for your faith in me. The Innkeeper Tales came out and my world changed. Because I was doing what I planned, sharing insights with others. But not enough people were reading the book, because not enough knew it existed. And by then my writing bug had completed the second book, Hermanisms :Axioms for Business & Life. But the world is a big place and these books had little momentum. How could I change the world so that millions, not thousands or hundreds could thumb through the pages and glean the knowledge placed there?

This blog was suggested as a way to create more awareness and I am grateful to my second editor, Carmen Walsh who worked way beyond my expectations to have Hermanisms, my blog, and this website created through another world changer named Kevin Potts.

Radio seemed to be the way to crack the code and reach millions. At first I did interviews anywhere I could find a willing host. Annie Armen, known as Hurricane Annie, came along and we leaped to the biggest lily pad. Her first question was, how far did I want my message to travel and my answer was Global not Local. She asked me what I thought would make these books reach the largest audience possible. For me, being on the radio everyday, in every city, day-after-day with a DAILY HERMANISM would probably create the largest audience. She didn’t laugh, she believed in my message and she introduced me to people to make my wish come true.

Our blog reader family will start to grow quite larger beginning Monday. People all over the country will have a chance to experience my message because working with people, one at a time, has taken me from one side of the pond to the other. Lisa Haneburg says flap your wings a little each day and others will notice and carry you along to where you want to go.

Starting on Monday that DAILY HERMANISM spot is real and plays on over 550 radio stations nationwide, with a live interview weekly to let the world know who I am and what my message is. Changing your world takes time, an effort you must be willing to undertake, and absolute belief that your goal is attainable with the help of others.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
