Back to the Blogosphere...

Over the last two weeks there has been a great deal of activity regarding the Speaking part of my efforts. Last week I gave two speeches in Florida for the B.W. Simpkins Entrepreneur Seminar for Brevard College. Bernie Simpkins, quite frankly, is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. Bernie was just named Entrepreneur of the Year in Florida for his countless endeavors both as a business owner and a philanthropist for creating opportunities for others to be encouraged as entrepreneurs.

Bernie Simpkins has lived a wonderful life filled with success in business, and he has a beautiful, supportive family which means his personal life has also been blessed. My life is better for having met Bernie Simpkins and my wife and I are grateful for his hospitality.

There was one speech at the Cocoa Campus of this wonderful college, Brevard Community College, and the next day another address given at the Melbourne, Florida campus. What wonderful facilities the students have…and the highlight included meeting a dedicated, world-class staff. President Jim Drake serves as a quiet, strong leader who understands how to manage talented people. Dr. Pat Fuller was on top of every detail for the event and took great care of my wife and me throughout.

These are all people I hope to spend more time with in the future. And, now for some thoughts on those who attended the event. They were warm and receptive, attentive during the talk I gave, and gracious with their questions and comments at the conclusion of the address. These students and business people were cautious, if not scared, of where we are going in America and it was my pleasure to motivate them with my thoughts and beliefs.

FLORIDA TODAY did an article announcing my arrival to speak, inviting Floridians to attend the event they co-sponsored. Following my first speech they ran a wonderful article the next day, covering my point of view showing my positive attitude even in these trying times.

The title of my speech was FINDING YOUR FUTURE: The Tools You Need For Success. I will be giving that speech over the next two weeks in Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Soon there will be a Demo DVD on this website for your review. If you know of a group that needs a speaker…email me so I can send them a media kit with a sample DVD.

Attend the meeting in Coca last week. I was very pleased to see all the young folks there.

Welcome

After 30+ years in business, I’ve decided that it’s time to share my hard knocks knowledge. Having worked in almost 200 bankruptcy cases and many other kinds of business failure situations, I have awarded myself a Ph.D. from what I refer to as the Herman School of Business. In this blog, you’ll read about starting a business, running a business, and, if the situation calls for it, selling a business; about being a business success and not a business failure. Welcome …
